The Charitable IRA Rollover
You can make a larger gift to Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley (HFHIV) than you might think! If you are over 70 ½ years of age, consider making a direct transfer from an IRA to Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley. The transfer will count toward the Annual Minimum Distribution (AMD), and avoids income tax normally imposed on the amount of the distribution.
It’s very easy to do. Contact your IRA investment advisor. He or she can order the transfer for you. To qualify, you must be age 70 ½, and the donation must be a direct transfer from your IRA or SEP IRA to a qualified not-for-profit organization such as HFHIV.
If you would like to accelerate the amount of your distribution you can do that. The law allows a distribution transferred directly a charity of an amount not to exceed $100,000 per year If you are not planning to use all or a portion of your AMD, or if you would like to make a larger contribution to support HFHIV, consider taking advantage of the Charitable IRA Rollover. Support our families and save yourself the income tax due on the withdrawal.
